7/25 - Arkansas Stars

When I buy my own house, I want to live out in the country. Especially in Northern Minnesota.

This one was in Arkansas though. But I can tell that I'm falling in love with astrophotography. I'm going to try to do this more often.

I already got tons of ideas for future locations in Iowa, Minnesota and Rochester and possibly Hawaii!

7/22 - Arkansas Sky, Part Two

While visting my best buddy, Dylan (Yes, we have the same name, don't ask please), I noticed that you can get some amazing view of the night sky out here. He lives in Middleofnowhere, Arkansas which is far, far away from a city or a town.

Since I brought most of my photography equipment down here, I thought I'd give the night sky a try. This is my first time doing this kind of photo and I loved it! I hope to do more of that kind of photography, and get some nice light streaks going.

Just two photos for tonight: one of the sky, and one of Dylan writing his name in the sno--I mean--air.

7/13 - Roosevelt vs Marshalltown (Substate Rd. 1)

I thought I’d try to do this blog post a little differently. Instead of shooting from Roosevelt’s point of view, I tried my best to stay “neutral” as I shot the game. I compiled a series of images to show a story of the game. So here’s my recap:

------

The Marshalltown Bobcats defeated the Roosevelt Roughriders 4-1 in the first round of the substate tournament at Marshalltown High School. The Bobcats’ Bennett Mann blasted a two-run home run off the Riders’ Luke Tasler in the top of the sixth inning to break a 1-1 tie. Alex Thompson added an insurance run in the top of the seventh inning to put the game away for the Bobcats on an error. Starting pitcher Kyle Carnahan was outstanding, as he pitched a complete game allowing only one run. Steve Snyder scored the lone run for the Riders, off Sam Norman’s bunt during the fourth inning.

------

Wish Roosevelt won, so I could enjoy writing the recap. But from what I’ve seen from the Riders over the past two weeks, I can tell that they’re a great team. They’re a strong team defensively that’s for sure. Today was just a fluke. One pitch got away and that was it. Otherwise, it was as great, great pitching duel between Tasler and Carnahan. I want to wish the best to all of the Riders seniors in their future endeavors. Some will play college ball. Some will not. Nevertheless, their memories of playing high school will be a GREAT one.

Roosevelt Parents, there will be many more Roosevelt photos from this game will be up in my store this weekend, before Sunday for sure. The photos from the Johnston game is now up in my store as well. As always, if you have any questions or comments, you can contact me at dylan@dylanheuer.com

7/8 - Around the Roosevelt Neighborhood

Just felt like going out and shoot something that wasn't moving (i.e. sports) so I walked around my neighborhood next to my old high school.

7/6 - Roosevelt vs. Norwalk

The Roosevelt Roughriders had a rough start to the game against the Norwalk Warriors, being down 4-0 in the first inning. But in the last few innings, they battled back and made the Warrior nervous, by making the score 6-5. Unfortunately, they came up sort, but it was a great comeback in my perspective. A good game all around for both teams.

Riders Parents, the photos from the previous game and today's game should be up in my store this weekend. Keep an eye out for it! :-)

Here are some more of my Riders photos!

7/6 - 300mm Test

Well, yesterday I got my new toy, a Canon 300mm 2.8. I used that lens pretty much exclusively when I was a student at RIT and shot countless sporting events with that lens, such as the Red Wings games or the Minnesota Twins game.

Now that I'm not a student at RIT anymore, I can't borrow that lens anymore, so I knew that I had to shell out to buy one of these things for my own use. You can obviously tell that that lens may never leave my camera, as I'd be shooting tons of high schools sports and some RIT events this fall.

I was planning on breaking the ice with the new lens by shooting a Roosevelt game yesterday, but the game was cancelled due to excessive heat (over 105 degrees!). So I went with my Plan B: the Heuer Zoo.

Really, nothing fancy here. Just playing around with my new toy :-)
