Another sports photo assignment for me. This time around, I was allowed to pick any sport to shoot. I wanted to shoot football because I wanted to practice shooting the sport a little bit more.
I thought about shooting the McQuaid game again at 4:30 on Saturday, but I opted to go with the later game at 7:00, which featured the Aquinas Institute Li'l Irish versus the Honeoye Falls-Lima Cougars, both from the Rochester area. The winner of the game would go to the Section V Finals and the winner of that game will get an automatic bid to the New York State playoffs.
Aquinas, the maroon team, had a strong defense during the whole game, while their offense took take of business in the second half, scoring all 21 points of the game in a 21-0 victory.
10/26 - Sportraits Part 2
I think I'm becoming addicted to this thing.
I showed the first few sportraits (you can see them in the previous post) to my Sports Photo class teacher, William Snyder. He told me that they were a good start, but it needs more action to it.
So I did a reshoot with Ken with the aid of Deanna Walden and Foster Snell recently at the pool and I think I captured the perfect picture that shows his sport.
Yup. I'm becoming addicted to doing sportraits. It's so frustrating setting up the lights and everything, but it's SO rewarding when the final picture comes out. It's so worth it.

10/21 - Sportrait
This is it! My first official sportrait, a sports portrait, that I've done since I've started shooting sports. For my sports photography class, I have to find a story for my final project and I decided to do it on Ken Love and his sport of swimming.
For my first sportrait, I did better than I thought. I took three lights to the pool at RIT and set them up and with the assistance of my good friend, War Yu, we all came out with some nice, simple portraits of Ken in the pool.
I can't wait to do this kind of thing again!
Next week, I'm hoping to do some more sportraits of him in the lap pool, diving off the bulkhead.

10/14 - Couples Assignment
For my People Photography class, which I am really really enjoying so far, I had to shoot a couple of any kind (boyfriend/girlfriend, roommates, best friends, etc etc) in an environment that fits them somehow. So I decided to go with my father and my uncle (brothers-in-law), who happened to be in town this week. I'm sure you already saw the pictures, but they ran a 50-Mile/50K road race last Saturday.
I am so proud of them. My dad finished FOURTH overall in the 50K race, while my uncle placed TENTH overall in the 50-mile race. They're runners, that's for sure. Tough athletes.
I wanted to do a "Sportrait" of them relating to that race. So I took them right outside their lake house and had them stand in the middle of the road while holding their numbers from their race.

11/13 - Watkins Glen State Park
Since I have an off day from school on Thursdays, I thought that I'd head down to Lake Canadaigua and spend the day with my family, who is visiting for a week for the RIT Homecoming. My family and I decided to drive about 2-3 hours south of Rochester, New York to visit the Watkins Glen State Park. It's pretty close to the Pennsylvania - New York border. The place is just awesome, as we hiked about a mile along the river, seeing about 10-20 different waterfalls.
